Laurus College Instructor - Jeffrey Staso

Jeffrey Staso

Web Design Department Director
Teaching at Laurus since 2011
LinkedIn Profile
Jeffrey has been a “computer kid” since the early 80s. He grew up on a steady diet of Commodore 64 games and DOS bat files. After getting interested in the online world as a teen, Jeffrey started a career of tinkering with the internet. He continued this interest after high school and was part of the 8th graduating class at California State Monterey Bay with a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Multimedia and Applied Computing.

After working in the field for a few years, Jeffrey and his wife Lynda took a job with Missoula Children’s Theatre, a non-profit traveling after-school drama organization out of Missoula Montana that worked with local children all over the US. Jeffrey found teaching to be a rewarding experience and was thrilled to start working with Laurus College in 2011. Jeffrey received a Master’s in Instructional Science and Technology in 2016.

As the Director of the Web Design and Development program at Laurus College, Jeffrey has always strived to maintain a high standard of quality to build skills that employers want. He is a proponent of experience as the best teacher, and constantly pushes students to build confidence and skills by tinkering with their own projects..

Art has been my passion for as long as I was able to put pen in hand but I got to the point in my life when I needed a change; and what better way to do that than moving into a whole other career. In 2009 I enrolled in the Web Design program here at Laurus College and by the Fall of 2010 had graduated. When offered a teaching position at the same school I had just attended I figured, who better to teach than someone who could view the program from the student’s perspective. As a result I use the training acquired from Laurus College to instruct proper and updated techniques needed in the field while maintaining a fresh outlook on our courses.
